Discovery College High Performance Student Athlete / Emerging Student Athlete Program Launched

Discovery College is excited to be providing our High Performance Student Athletes (Y11 - 13) and Emerging Student Athletes (Y7 - 10) the opportunity to access support through the Athlete Friendly Coordinator (AFC) Mr Lawrence Wilkinson.

ESFC introduced the AFC role in all ESF Secondary and through schools after consultation with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS). This organisation has a collaborated program with the IB and a number of universities and national sport bodies around the world. The main function of this program is to support student athletes to be successful in their academic and sporting pursuits.

Over the year these students will meet weekly 1:1 with the AFC to discuss training and academics as well as a range of performance areas such as; diet, goal setting, fitness, flexibility and a whole lot more. There is provision for High Performance Student Athletes to enter into an extended Diploma program with the support of the school, AFC, WAoS and IB whilst Emerging Student Athletes will be mentored and guided through this pathway into Elite sports.

The main requirements for acceptance to these programs are;

Participation in a National Sports Team

Meet Fitness Benchmarks as set by the DC Wellness Coordinator (HERE)

Contribute to the DC Cobras Sports program through participation and development

Maintain your position in the National Sports Program

If you or your child are interested in joining this program and meet the above requirements please contact Lawrence Wilkinson on wilkil1@dc.edu.hk
